
One of the most intense players to ever wear the Red and White was Pren Trickett, a 1984 graduate of Bellevue Senior High School. Pren earned seven varsity letters over his high school career, three in football, one in basketball and three in baseball.
Pren was All League Honorable Mention in baseball as a sophomore outfielder in 1982, hitting three home runs and six doubles for the Sectional Champions and District Runner-Up team.
In 1983, Pren was All League Honorable Mention, helping to lead the team to the Sectional title and batting .291 with a homer and three doubles. He captained the team during his senior stint, nabbing First Team All League honors as a catcher on Bellevue’s first-ever District Championship team (14-8 overall). He led the team in batting average at .446, hitting five home runs, eight doubles and 29 singles.
Pren excelled in the sport of football as a three year starter at linebacker. He was second on the team in tackles his sophomore year for a squad that allowed just 38 total points in 11 games, including six shutouts.
During his junior season, Pren was First Team All League as a linebacker, leading the team in tackles and rushing for 141 yards in short yardage situations, scoring four touchdowns. He was captain of the team in 1983 and earned First Team All League honors at linebacker, Second Team All Ohio honors, was team MVP, scored on a 90-yard touchdown run against Norwalk, and ended his career with 323 career tackles, five fumble recoveries, four interceptions, three and one-half quarterback sacks, and one tackle for a safety.
Pren was also honored as a Northern Ohio League Scholar Athlete and in 1984 receive the Bellevue Gazette Award as the most valuable male athlete.
Pren continued his playing career at Ashland College on a football scholarship. He was a three-year started for Ashland at linebacker and played on the Heartland Conference co-championship team, championship team, and NCAA Division II playoff team. He also led the team in tackles his sophomore year, twice earned Honorable Mention All Conference linebacker honors, and graduated with a Business Degree in 1988.
Pren and his wife, AnnMaria, reside in Raleigh, NC. They are parents of four children. Pren is employed with the Elsag Bailey Group.
