Christie Borgia graduated from Bellevue High School in 1995 and is one of just a handful of athletes who can make the claim of earning the maximum of 12 varsity letters over four years of high school. In her case, Christie earned four letters in volleyball, four in basketball, one in track and field, and three in softball.
Her volleyball honors included Honorable Mention All-Northern Ohio League in 1992 and 1993, and First Team All-NOL in 1994 during her senior season.
Christie earned a lone letter in track and field as a freshman, but earned All-NOL honors with a third place finish in the shot put at the Northern Ohio League Meet. For the season, Christie scored the second-most team points for the Lady Red.
In softball, Borgia was Second Team All-NOL as a sophomore in 1993, was First Team All-NOL as a junior in 1994, was also First Team All-District that same season. During her senior season in 1995, she was First Team All-NOL, First Team District Six, Third Team All-Northwest District, and was selected to play in the “Best in the Midwest” All-Star Game.
In basketball, Borgia earned four letters, earning Second Team All-NOL honors as a junior in 1993-94 and Second Team All-District. As a senior, she was First Team All-NOL and First Team District Six and Third Team All-Northwest District. She was captain and co-MVP as a senior and at the time of graduation, ranked sixth on the all-time season steals list with 69, sixth in career rebounds with 463, sixth in career steals with 171, and eighth in career scoring with 872 points. Her team was 14-8 overall and Sectional Champs in 1993-94, and 17-5 overall and Sectional Champs in 1994-95.
Christie then received the Bellevue Gazette Award as the most valuable female athlete in 1994-95, was a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated in the top 25 of her class.
Christie continued her athletic career at Baldwin-Wallace with the women’s varsity basketball team and was a member of the school’s first team to receive a bid to the Division III NCAA tournament in 1996. Christie graduated from Baldwin-Wallace in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, holding a minor in Chemistry and Business. Over the past seven years, she has established a successful career with Key Bank and is currently Vice President, Recruiting Team Manager. She is currently a home owner, residing in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland.
