2023 Inductee Mike DeLuca, 1973
A 1973 graduate of Bellevue High School (BHS), Michael DeLuca earned a total of seven varsity letters in football, basketball and track combined. He received the Bellevue Gazette Award in 1973 as the Top Male Athlete at BHS.
Mike earned two letters in basketball for the Redmen, scoring 99 points his senior year to go along with 20 assists and 117 rebounds.
In track & field, Mike earned three letters. In 1973, the Redmen won the Northern Ohio League track team title, their first in 18 years. He was Honorable Mention All-NOL in the 4 x 200 yard relay, and also competed in the 200 yard dash, and 4 x 400 yard relay.
Mike earned three varsity letters in football and was Second Team All-NOL defense as a junior in 1971. As a senior, he was First Team defense and Honorable Mention offense, was co-captain both his junior and senior seasons, was voted Best Lineman, and was named All-District.
He went on to play football at Ohio University (middle guard) on a full athletic scholarship. He started and lettered three years at OU and was named Defensive Player of the Week several times.
Today, Mike and his wife, Stephanie, reside in University Heights, OH. Their oldest son, Michael, played football at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin and at Pittsburgh University. Son Donovan also played at N.D. Cathedral Latin and then at Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. Third son, Lance, played football at Gilmour Academy.
Oldest daughter, Erica, played high school basketball at N.D. Cathedral Latin and college ball at Hiram, while youngest daughter, Isabelle, played lacrosse at Beaumont High School.
