2016 Inductee Jim Windsor, 1953
t a time when Bellevue High School was a three-year school, Jim Windsor was among those rare athletes who earned the maximum number of letters – 9 – while playing one sport in each of the Fall, Winter and Spring sports season. He earned three letters each in football, basketball and track and field before graduating in 1953.
For his efforts, Jim was named as the 1953 Bellevue Gazette Award Winner as the top male athlete at Bellevue High School.
Jim earned three letters in track and field, finishing first place in the high jump at the Northern Ohio League Meet in 1953 and taking third place in the long jump at the same meet.
In basketball, he was a captain during the 1952-53 season and was a member of two NOL championship teams in 1952 (14-7) and 1953 (12-7). He was second team All-NOL as a senior and scored 313 points, second highest in school history at the time. He scored 32 points in one game that season, which at the time was also a school record. He was named to the Toledo Blade All-Star team in 1953.
As a football player, he helped lead the Redmen to the NOL title in 1951. Jim was captain his senior season in 1952 and was first team All-NOL lineman and lineman of the year. He also made honorable mention All-Ohio that senior season and was named to the Toledo Blade All-Star Team in 1952.
After high school, Jim played one year of football at Duke University and two years for Army.
Today, Jim and his wife Carol reside on Catawba Island, Ohio and Cape Coral, Florida. They are parents to 3 children. Leanne (Patrick) Wilson of Boerne, Texas, Jacquie (Michael) Raifsnider of Bellevue, Ohio, and (James) Dan Windsor of Cape Coral, Florida. They are proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
