
Cody Cramer, a 2000 graduate of Bellevue High School, earned five varsity letters in football (3) and track and field (2), before going on to a successful college football career at Findlay.
Cody earned two letters in track and field, earning the Northern Ohio League titles in both shot put and discus as a junior. He was also the Huron Invitie champion and qualified to the State Meet in discus, where he finished ninth overall.
As a senior, Cody was team captain and MVP, was NOL shot put and discus champion once again, won both events at the Edison Invite, was shot put champ at Huron and at District, and was discus champ at the Bellevue Invite and runner-up at Districts. He qualified to State in both events, finishing third place overall in the shot put.
Cramer excelled on the football field as a three-year starter for the Redmen. He played offensive line his sophomore season in 1997, before becoming a two-way starter in 1998. During that season, he led the Redmen in tackles (103) as a linebacker.
During his senior campaign in 1999, Cramer was co-captain and team MVP, was a two-way starter, led the team in tackles (89), was named First Team All-Northern Ohio League linebacker and offensive lineman, was First Team All-District linebacker and District Defensive Player of the Year, was Second Team All-Ohio, and was named First Team Toledo Channel 24 All-24 Team.
Cody took his football talents to Findlay University where he earned four varsity letters and was a four-year starter at linebacker. He recorded 348 career tackles for the Oilers and led the team in tackles his sophomore (108), junior (85) and senior (114) seasons.
In 2001, Cody was Second Team All-GLIAC linebacker and was First Team linebacker as a junior. During that junior season, the Oilers were 9-2 overall and ranked 24th in the nation, NCAA Division-II. He was then team captain and MVP as a senior, was GLIAC defensive player of the week twice that season, was First Team All-GLIAC linebacker and First Team All-Northwest District, and finished his career as a Second Team Division II All-America selection at linebacker.
Cody and his wife, Ellen, and their two children, reside in Bellevue. Cody is employed by the Bellevue City Schools as the Middle School athletic director and assistant principal.
