2023 Inductee Coach Lyle Falknor, 1987-2008
One of the most successful coaches in Bellevue High School history is Lyle Falknor, who coached the Redmen boys basketball program from 1987-2008. He was head coach for 21 seasons.
Lyle compiled an overall win/loss record of 296-180 while with the Redmen. This still ranks as the top number of wins in Redmen basketball history. His league record was 175-119 (68%) and he compiled seven 20-win seasons for the red and white.
Lyle led the Redmen to seven Northern Ohio League titles, including six straight from 1992 through 1998.
During his 21-year span, Lyle recorded 12 Sectional titles, eight District championship appearances, five District titles, five Regional appearances, was named Northwest District Coach of the Year in 1997, District Six Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1997, and compiled an overall coaching record of 506-325 during his entire career.
Today, Lyle and his wife, Brenda, reside here in Bellevue. Son Ryan (Athletic Director at Western Reserve High School) and wife Erin reside in Huron with daughters Maggie, Caroline, and Audrey. Son David (Teacher/CBI Coordinator at Townsend) resides in Bellevue with son Jamison and daughter Kenslee. Son Ben (Computer Engineer) lives in North Ridgeville.
