Maggie Vogel Massaro graduated in 1991 but before she did, she earned seven varsity letters in cross country (3) and track and field (4). She became one of the hardest working and most prolific runners in Lady Red history.
In cross country, Maggie was Second Team All-Northern Ohio League as a sophomore. Her 1988 team was NOL runner-up and champions at the Perrysburg and Maumee Invitationals
As a junior, she placed first in three of nine dual meets and was All-NOL First Team and finished 23rd overall at the State Meet. She followed that up with a solid senior season, finishing first in four of nine dual meets, was First Team All-NOL, District Meet runner-up, and would have qualified to the State Meet if it were not for a stress fracture suffered after the District Meet.
Maggie racked up many awards in track and field, lettering as a freshman on the NOL and District championship team. As a sophomore, the team won the Bellevue Invite while Maggie was earning NOL honors in three different events. She earned All-Ohio honors as a member of the 4 x 800-meter relay team and was also All-Ohio in the 3200-meter run. She was top point producer on the team with 191 points.
In 1990 as a junior, Maggie was All-NOL in two events and was District champ in the 3200-meter run. She was a Regional qualifier in four events for the second straight year and a State Meet qualifier in three events, the 4 x 800 relay, 1600 and 3200-meter runs. She was All-Ohio in the 3200 that year.
As a senior, Maggie was team MVP and scored 195 points. She established a school record in the 3200-meter run, a record that still stands. She was NOL champion in three events and won the District 3200-meter run two days after having the flu. She advanced to Regionals in the 3200 run and was State runner-up in that event. She ended her track career as a four-time All-Ohioan.
Today, Maggie is a language arts teacher at Demsey Middle School in Delaware, Ohio. Maggie is married to Mike and they are proud parents of two daughters. They reside in Lewis Center, Ohio
