Ian Fultz, a 1994 graduate of Bellevue High School (BHS), was a standout four-year letter winner in wrestling, while also earning two letters in football for the Redmen.
He was named First Team All-NOL defensive back during his senior football season in 1993, and was also a First Team All-Northwest District and Special Mention All-Ohio defensive back. Ian also earned Second Team NOL honors his senior year as a receiver. Ian also earned the Sberna Award from the coaching staff his senior year. Ian played and helped lead some great Redmen Football teams. He was part of the 1992 & 1993 NOL championship teams that went 7-0 both years. His senior year the team made the playoffs and defeated West Holmes before getting beat by Uniontown Lake.
As talented as he was on the football field, Ian was more so on the wrestling mat. At the time of graduation in 1994, Ian ranked No. 1 in career wins with a record of 115-21-1 over four years, including a mark of 33-2 as a senior. He also captained the team in 1993-94 and was named MVP. As a team, the Redmen finished fourth in the state, the highest placement in school history.
Ian was only the second Redmen wrestler at the time to accumulate more than 100 career wins (Carl Keske did it a year before). He was an 11-time invitational tournament champion, set the record for most consecutive dual meet wins in 1993 with 36, was MVP of the Oak Harbor and Clyde Invites his senior year, and led the team in 1993-94 with 33 pins and 31 takedowns.
He was also the first in BHS history to have back-to-back undefeated regular seasons (26-0 and 23-0) and was a three-time NOL champion. He was also Sectional and District champion his junior and senior seasons, was a two-time state qualifier, and placed fourth in the state during both his junior and senior seasons.
Today, Ian works for Bunge Inc. in Bellevue and resides with his wife Bandi in his home town. They are proud parents of two children. Dylan, 2014 BHS graduate and Cassidy, a junior at BHS.
