Chad Beamer earned seven varsity letters before graduating from Bellevue High School in 2002, earning three letters in football and four in track and field. A very good football player in his own right, Chad re-wrote the record book in track and field, and specifically, in the pole vault event.
In football, Chad started as cornerback for three years, and was also a pivotal running back and kick returner for the Redmen.
As a senior during the 2001 season, Chad was named co-captain, most valuable back, and started every game at running back, cornerback, and punt and kicker returner. He rushed for 1,097 yards and scored 13 TD’s, caught nine passes for 169 yards, averaged 13.4 yards on 19 punt returns, and averaged 31.5 yards on 15 kick returns. For his efforts, he was named Second Team All-Northern Ohio League running back and Honorable Mention defensive back. The team went 11-3 overall, was NOL champs, Division III Regional Champs, and was a State Final Four team.
In track and field, Chad earned four letters and set numerous records. He is still the only Bellevue track athlete to compete at the State Track & Field Meet and place all four years.
As a junior in 2001, Chad, who was coached by his father, Shawn, won the NOL, District, Regional, and State titles in the pole vault event, going 15-3 at state to take the title. He also qualified to Regionals that year in the 200-meter dash and the 4 x 100-meter relay. He was named MVP of the team that season.
As a senior, Chad repeated as NOL, District, Regional and State Champion in the pole vault, this time clearing 15-9 at state to take the title. He was again named MVP and is still part of the school record 4 x 100 team (43.28 seconds). He also broke his father’s school pole vault record while establishing new record heights nearly every meet his senior year.
Chad then took his track and field talents to the University of Cincinnati where he was named Cincinnati Top Cat Scholar Athlete of the year in 2005-06. He was a Jimmy Nippert Award nominee and placed each year in the Conference USA pole vault event. His best finish was second as a sophomore. At the time he was ranked sixth on the all-time UC indoor records list and eighth on the outdoor list. He was co-captain of the team both his junior and senior years and he graduated from UC with a 3.8 GPA in Material Engineering. He made the Dean’s List, Commissioner’s Honor Roll and Scholar Athlete Honor Roll each quarter during college and graduate Magna Cum Laude.
Today, Chad resides in Cincinnati. He is a Material Engineer supporting jet engine platforms for both commercial and military applications at GE Aviation.
