John Bollinger….Johnny B or simply JB to his friends…graduated from Bellevue High School in 1994 after earning seven varsity letters: three in football, and two each in basketball and baseball.
In baseball, Johnny B led the Redmen to a Sectional Title in 1993. During his senior campaign, he was Honorable Mention All-Northern Ohio League as a pitcher/middle infielder. He also led the team with 21 stolen bases and was tied for first on the team with 16 runs scored.
In basketball, John led the team to NOL, Sectional and District titles as a junior guard. The team went 22-3 overall that season. The following year, the Redmen went 22-2 in winning NOL and Sectional titles. John helped lead the team to 27 straight regular season wins from 1992-94. For his career he scored 271 points, had 89 steals, and 147 assists.
The football playing field was where Johnny B excelled. He was a three-year starter at quarterback and is the only Redmen QB to start on three consecutive NOL championship teams. Over that span, John led the team to a 28-4 overall mark and a 20-1 NOL mark.
As a sophomore, he passed for 1,039 yards and 10 TD’s. He was Honorable Mention All-NOL and Special Mention Northwest District. The 10 TD’s led the NOL that season.
As a junior, Johnny B passed for 1,166 yards and 10 TD’s and was Second Team All-NOL.
As a senior, JB was co-captain and MVP. He passed for 1,321 yards and seven TD’s, again leading the NOL. He was First Team All-NOL and led the Redmen to the playoffs, beating Millersburg West Holmes 7-6 in the opening round.
Today, John is Bellevue Middle School Principal. He is married to Courtney and they are parents of two children. They reside in Bellevue.
