For Andrea Snyder, the choice was simple: when your father is the varsity softball coach at your high school, chances are very good that you will be playing softball for him someday. The 1996 graduate of Bellevue High School (BHS) is glad she did make that decision, after four letters, numerous honors and awards, and a chance to continue her career in college.
Andrea finished her four-year career with the Lady Red softball team going 62-11 overall as a pitcher.
As a sophomore, she was named Second Team All-NOL and Honorable Mention All-NW District.
During her junior year in 1995, Andrea was named First Team All-NOL, First Team All-NW District, and First Team All-Ohio. She repeated all of those same honors during her senior season in 1996, during which she was a team captain and MVP. She also earned the award for the highest batting average as a senior. She threw 117 strikeouts her senior season, which was a school record at that time.
She still holds the school records for wins in a season (21) and lowest ERA (0.36).
Andrea helped lead her Lady Red Team to an NOL Championship her junior year of 1995. Her junior and senior seasons, the Lady Red were crowned Sectional Champions.
Andrea then attended Ohio Dominican College on a softball scholarship. She played and earned four letters while playing at Ohio Dominican. She was Academic All-America in 1999, was team captain in both 1999 and 2000, and won the Coaches Award in 2000 for being the most outstanding teammate and leader.
Andrea works for Hyland Software in Westlake and resides in Avon Lake, Ohio.
