
Carol Allan not only had
the privilege of teaching hundreds of students over the
years, she also had the opportunity to coach dozens and
dozens of gifted athletes over her career as teacher/coach
for Bellevue Senior High School.
In fact, Carol was the
first-ever girls basketball coach at BSHS, finishing with an
overall record of 95 wins and 42 losses. She won the
school’s first-ever Northern Ohio League girls basketball
title as well in 1975-76, guiding the team to its first-ever
state tournament experience. The team finished the season at
14-1 overall.
In addition, Carol
guided the Lady Redmen tennis team to two Northern Ohio
League championships, and was 23-5 overall as tennis coach.
The team won the NOL title in both 1976-77 (9-1 overall) and
1977-78 (10-1 overall).
Carol was also the
first-ever coach for the girls golf team in 1974.
Carol graduated from
BHS in 1963 and started teaching in Bellevue in 1969. She
taught for 30 years (28 of those years in Bellevue) and was
part of the committee that set up girls’ sports teams when
Bellevue decided to begin interscholastic sports for girls.
Carol still lives in
Bellevue and works part-time at Mudbrook Golf Center which
is a driving range and pro shop. She still loves golf and
enjoys watching football, basketball, and baseball on
television. |
